On Sunday my husband and I took bicycle ride through Saratoga Spa State Park. It's a great place to see and hear birds. We did see an oriole, but we heard a lot more. With the leaves almost completely out it's very difficult to see the birds. That's why it's important to learn the songs. I learned the songs by listening to Peterson's Birding By Ear CD. It is a teaching CD that puts like sounding birds together and tells you how to tell the difference. We heard the following birds: great crested flycatcher, ovenbird, wood thrush, oriole, robin, common yellow throat, chipping sparrow, red-eyed vireo. If I had not known the song I would have not been able to identify the bird. Backyard Birds sells this CD.
